Salsa Cruise FAQs
Since 2000 we have been running the Summer Salsa Cruises in Vancouver, and have received a ton of questions so I have decided to put together our frequently asked questions about a night aboard the Summer Salsa Cruise Series. If I haven’t answered one of your questions, please send me an email and I will get back to you within 24 hours.
Do I need a partner to come aboard the Salsa Cruises?
No, not at all. The Salsa Cruises is a great mix of singles, company parties, stagettes, birthdays and couples. We offer a 30 minute Salsa lesson teaching you all the basics so that you can learn the Latin dance craze that continues to sweep the world. Most people are eager to practice their newly taught Salsa moves so coming with a dance partner is not often necessary.
What kind of Latin dance is taught on board?
Some of Vancouver’s top Latin dance instructors join us on board to teach a beginners Salsa lesson. This will give you the basics so that you can dance the night away in this sexy and sultry dance that gets its influence from countries such a Cuba, Puerto Rico and Columbia.
What is the dress code on the Salsa Cruises?
You’ll want to feel comfortable and of course sexy so that you can move more freely. The key is to have fun and simply move to the music. The only attire we tend to shy away from is sports attire, so please keep that in mind and dress for a fun night out. It does get quite hot aboard as well so dressing light is a good idea.
What type of music do you play on board?
Although we are called Salsa Cruises, we don’t just play Salsa. We play a variety of all types of Latin music along with some Top 40, Hip Hop and R & B. On the lower level for all the die hard Salsa fans, this level will play the most Salsa. The middle deck will play Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton = Caliente! The upper deck which is just under Vancouver’s starry sky will play everything, Latin, Latin House, Top 40, R & B and more. This level is definitely most popular especially on a gorgeous Vancouver night.
Do you offer group rates?
Yes, we sure do. Your group needs to be 15 or more and will then qualify for a discount. You can either meet with me directly for these tickets or you can purchase them online to receive the discount. Please do note that surcharges will still apply online.
Do you do anything for birthday parties or stagettes?
We are more than happy to work with you to arrange for a table or two for your group depending on your group size. If you wanted the area decorated (although the boat is decorated), we will help to facilitate this request. Please do email or call us regarding any parties and table requests. If this is a stagette, you can show off your new moves to your husband, family & friends at your wedding and if this is a birthday party we have a photographer on board taking photos so great memories can be treasured.
What kind of food do you have on board?
We are thrilled to be working with Las Autenticas, a truly authentic Mexican restaurant in Kits! Food is an option on the Salsa Cruises, and not included in the ticket price. You can now buy online or onboard. We can also assist with special requests if needed, just please send us an email!
Were exactly is the Vancouver Salsa Cruise located?
The MV Britannia is located in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour just before Stanley Park. Harbour Cruises is located at 501 Denman St. at Georgia. If you are heading to Stanley Park on Georgia Street you turn right on Denman just before you approach Stanley Park. Not sure of Denman St. Here’s a good tip, its the corner where they have all the bicycle rentals!
Where do we park?
Harbour Cruises has a pay parking lot just at the boat’s dock. If that lot is full there is an Easy Park lot about a block or two before Denman on Cardero, near the Westin Bayshore Hotel and another across the street on the opposite side of Georgia or meter parking is available throughout downtown Vancouver.
Do you accept Credit Cards on board?
The Salsa Cruise Series accepts only cash on board the vessel. There is no ATM, so please come prepared if you would like to purchase food or beverages during your time aboard.
Where does the Salsa Cruise sail to?
We sail through the beautiful waters of False Creek. Vancouver’s views are simply stunning from the water so sailing with us is a must do. The upper deck is filled with photographers working their cameras, there is also outdoor areas on the middle level both front and back so you won’t miss that photo opportunity to catch Vancouver’s stunning back drop.
How long are we on the boat for?
The Salsa Cruise is a 3 hours tour with an hour for boarding. We board at 8:30pm and depart at 9:30pm sharp so please allow enough time for traffic and parking. We then return at 12:30am.
What if it rains?
Rain has never stopped the Salsa Cruises from sailing. The MV Britannia is 3 levels. 2 levels are completely covered and the upper deck is partially covered so you can still take advantage of the fresh air upstairs as it has some cover; no umbrella needed!
Please note:
Harbour Cruises and our Security have the right to turn you away if you come to the Salsa Cruises intoxicated or are aggressive in any way to staff while boarding. The safety of our passengers is of the utmost priority and this will not be accepted.
